Everything you'll need to know about Tom and his passion for this site.
About Me
Tom Santilli is an esteemed writer/journalist who is quickly gaining popularity for
his online writing and featured columns. He currently writes for the popular website,
Examiner.com, in many capacities, most notably as the "Detroit Movie Examiner" and
also as the national "Survivor Examiner."
The Movie Critic
Tom has always had a love of movies, and from an early age knew
he was destined to be associated with the film industry. He is currently a member of
the Detroit Film Critics Society, the most prestigious group of film critics in Michigan,
and has been reviewing movies as the Detroit Movie Examiner for Examiner.com since
2009. In 2010, he was selected by National CineMedia and Examiner.com as one of 14
Movie Critics to be featured in a campaign called "The Best Critics in America", and was
featured in a promo video that ran in movie theatres across the country and in his local
Detroit market.
Tom also exclusively covers the Ann Arbor Film Festival each year for Examiner.com,
and has gained praise for shedding light on one of the oldest and most renowned Film
Festivals in North America.
Tom continues to give thoughtful insight in his reviews of the latest movies each week,
with occasional celebrity interviews, but also keeps his local Detroit readership in tune
with the latest film-related events and news relevant to the area. His weekly reviews can
be read and subscribed to by checking out the Detroit Movie Examiner.
Survivor
Tom has always been a huge fan of the CBS TV show, Survivor, since the
very beginning, even though he is not a fan of reality TV as a whole. Never having
ever missed an episode, like many others, Tom found himself questioning the motives
and situations of those on the show, and desperately wanted answers. Unlike others,
he now has access to weekly "exit interviews" with castaways on the show, having
actively used his credentials as the Detroit Movie Examiner to land a national position
with Examiner.com, as the Survivor Examiner. This new gig launched Tom quickly into
the elite group of "must-read" Survivor insiders. He began covering Survivor mid-way
through the Heroes vs. Villains season in 2010, and in this short time, his readership has
quadrupled…and continues to grow. His unique take and relentless coverage is what
makes his column a fan favorite and has made him a go-to Survivor "expert."
He has appeared on Rob Cesternino's "Rob Has a Podcast" and also gave the only
exclusive interview with Richard Hatch since he returned to court for alleged probation
violation in 2010. In addition to writing a weekly episode preview, full recap, and exit
interview as part of his Survivor Examiner column, he also contributes a weekly Survivor
analysis to TheTVKing.com, and a weekly "Survivor Round-up" to TVGeekArmy.com.
Personal
Tom Santilli has lived in and around the suburbs of Detroit his whole life, and
attributes his creativity and passion to his mother and father, and brother and sister. Tom

with a focus on Journalism as well.
In addition to his writing, Tom is a respected business owner in the Detroit area, of

Wedding Videography business. In 2010, they were voted the #1 Wedding Videographer
